Let's discover the most anticipated summer festivals and concerts in Milan, as well as the musical events not to be missed in summer 2019.

In May, locals start putting away their jackets, in June the schools close and in July the atmosphere of the holidays finally begins to breathe. But what would life be without music? Summer has always been synonymous with festivals and concerts, which awaken the desire to sing, dance and share. Milan hosts several summer music events that attract listeners of all kinds and of all ages.
 
Milano Summer Festival is an event that brings together some of the hottest events of summer 2019. Among the open-air music festivals of summer 2019 in Milan dedicated to lovers of rap/hip hop is the Mamacita Festival on June 14 with J Balvin, Elettra Lamborghini, Sfera Ebbasta and Gué Pequeno. On June 22^nd, Party like a Deejay is scheduled to take place, a one-day party at the MIND - Milano Innovation District of Area Expo to celebrate the thirty-seven years of the famous Milanese radio.
 
From mid-June to August 17, the Mediolanum Forum in Assago will host the Milano Latin Festival, a great opportunity to promote Latin American culture both to the rhythm of music and at the dining table. The Milano Arte Musica, an international festival of ancient music whose program will focus on the inspiration of the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci on the occasion of the 500^th anniversary of his death, is scheduled to take place around the same time. Serving as the backdrop to the concerts are some of the most prominent churches in Milan, from San Pietro in Gessate to the church of San Sepolcro.

Milan also has lots of events for those who enjoy heavier sounds: this year's new event is the two-day Milano Rocks 2019 where, on 30 and 31 August in the Area Expo, such artists as the likes of Florence + The Machine, The 1975 and PVRIS, Twenty One Pilots, Billie Eilish and Fidlar will be performing live.
 
Among the most anticipated musical events of the summer in the alternative and underground Milanese scene are Unaltrofestival 2019, with a totally female line-up led by Anna Calvi, and ZUMA 2019, a festival that revolves around visionary and experimental music organized by the Alleanza Galattica in the scenario of the Cascinet.

The SNAI San Siro Racecourse is the site of some of the most popular concerts of the Milanese summer. On 25 June, Calcutta will perform there, while on the following 2 July, KISS will perform on an Italian stage for the last time in their historic career. Expectations are high also for Ben Harper, who will arrive in Milan on 17 July after a handful of dates in several other Italian cities.
 
One artist who needs no introduction is Ed Sheeran, whose concert on June 19 at the San Siro football stadium was an almost instantaneous sold-out. Tickets are still available for the two dates of Muse on 12 and 13 July at the Meazza Stadium.

The Magnolia Club is one of the most interesting realities of the Milanese music scene, especially the alternative rock scene: this summer it will host God is an Astronaut, Eels and Mac DeMarco.
 
Paladins of avant-garde metal, the Americans Neurosis will perform at the Carroponte in Sesto San Giovanni on July 12. Closing off the summer are Machine Gun Kelly and Wilco, who will be performing at the Fabrique, and Måneskin, always at the Carroponte.
