I am travelling to the United States. What is the Vis Waiver Program?
The Visa Waiver Program (travelling without a visa) allows citizens of certain countries to visit the United States for up to 90 days without having to obtain a visa before travel. The countries included in the Visa Waiver Program are: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Holland, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, the Czech Republic, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Hungary. The citizens of these countries are required to show a passport with optical reading to use the visa exemption program. All the countries that below to the program are currently able to issue passports with optical reading.
You should contact the relevant authorities if you don't have a passport with optical reading and want to travel using the Visa Waiver Program.
Passports without optical reading can be used to enter the United States only and exclusively if they have a USA Visa. Contact the consulates or the American embassies abroad ahead of your travelling date to request a USA Visa.
