At Milano Malpensa Covid-tested flights to the USA

Go-ahead for the experimentation of “Covid-Tested” flights to and from the United States. This provision will promote intercontinental air traffic by making flights safer.
The order establishes that all passengers departing on the Milan-New York route and vice versa will be required to present, upon boarding, a certificate attesting to the negative result of the molecular (RT PRC) or antigenic test carried out within 48 hours prior to the flight.
In particular, passengers arriving at Malpensa will be able to avoid quarantine or fiduciary isolation, as required for those arriving from the United States, by taking an antigenic test (RADT) at the airport.

This experimental phase is aimed at assessing the effectiveness and functionality of the new travel method in containing the risk of Covid-19 infection, with a view to making it more widely available in preparation for the summer.
"The result was the consequence of a joint effort with the Ministries of Health and Transport together with the Lombardy Region - said Armando Brunini, SEA CEO - whom we thank for their work in these months. Milan New-York is the intercontinental destination with the highest number of frequencies and passengers - continues Brunini - We hope that this experimentation is the first step towards an expansion of the Covid-Tested destinations, which we believe are essential to sustain traffic during this still very difficult period of the Pandemic”.

The new travel protocol is regulated by the March 9 order of the Minister of Health. This government measure will be in force, subject to extensions, until 30 June 2021.

Even for these Covid-Tested flights, however, the general rule applies that passengers will be required to wear a protective surgical mask at all times throughout the flight.

Thanks to the operational rapid testing facilities of the Lombardy Region, the option of Covid-Tested flights, already successfully experimented on Linate-Fiumicino flights from September to November last year, is being extended, thus confirming the commitment made since the start of the pandemic to implement measures to prevent and protect the health of passengers and operators.
At Malpensa, passengers departing for any destination can also take an antigen swab test at the check-in area for a fee.
Milan Malpensa Airport has been awarded the "ACI World's Voice of the Customer" prize, an initiative that rewards airports that have made listening to their passengers a priority during the difficult period of the pandemic.
